A common legisl
ative framework regarding Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) has been created since 1989 in the EU, starting with the framework Directive (89/391/EEC) and followed by subsequent individual Directives. This legislation requires employers to ensure the safety and health of workers and to have competent advice on these problems.

Endorsement: ISSA (Int.'l Social Security Association)
The International Social Security Association is pleased to be a patron of the EusafeProject Final Conference event, to be held in Milan on 28 September 2012 and organized by AIAS. The ISSA follows with interest the development of a new professional qualification and a harmonized training framework for OSH professionals (Occupational Safety and Health Managers and Technicians). The ISSA considers prevention to be at the heart of social security, and endeavors to promote a comprehensive culture of prevention.

It is a privilege for the ILO to be associated to the final conference of the EUSAFE Project. The world of work needs a critical mass of qualified professionals and technicians to tackle the wide range of risks at work. Developing competencies of OSH practitioners appears as a key investment in prevention. The project outcomes provide tangible advancements for making Decent Work a reality.
